Why Leadership Feels Heavier in Full Seasons

by | May 5, 2026 | 0 comments

There are certain times of the year when leadership feels heavier than usual.

May is often one of them.

Work doesn’t slow down.

But life speeds up.
There are graduations.
Family gatherings.
Vacations being planned.
Schedules shifting.

And in the middle of it all…

You’re still leading.

For many women, this creates a quiet tension.

You’re trying to stay present at home…

While still carrying responsibility at work.

You’re managing decisions in both places.

And even if everything is “good”…

It still feels like a lot.

This is where many high-capacity women default to one thing:

They push harder.

They try to keep everything moving.

They stretch a little more.

They carry a little more.

But here’s what I’ve seen after more than 25 years working alongside leaders:

The issue isn’t the season.

It’s how you’re leading through it.

Full seasons don’t require more effort.

They require more clarity.

Clarity around:

  • What actually matters right now
  • What is truly yours to carry
  • What can wait
  • What needs to shift

Without that clarity, everything begins to feel urgent.

Everything begins to feel important.

And leadership becomes heavier than it needs to be.

But when you lead with clarity in a full season:

  • Decisions become easier
  • Pressure decreases
  • Energy is protected
  • Leadership becomes more sustainable

This isn’t about doing less.

It’s about leading differently in the season you’re in.

If leadership has been feeling heavier than usual lately…

It may not be because you’re doing too much.

It may be because this season is asking you to lead with more clarity.

Steadfastly,
Angie
