When Faithfulness Looks Different Than You Planned

There are seasons when everything seems to fit neatly into place.Your routines are working.

Your plans are moving forward.

You have time to journal, think, create, and check things off your list.

And then…

Life changes.

Last week, we welcomed a new puppy into our home.

My mom unexpectedly became ill and spent a night in the hospital.

Our family plans changed overnight.

Somewhere in the middle of all of that, I caught a summer cold.

Needless to say…

It wasn’t the week I had planned.

One thing quietly slipped away.

My journaling.

A few months ago, I probably would have viewed that as falling behind.

Instead…

I found myself asking a different question.

What does faithful stewardship look like in this season?

Sometimes faithfulness looks like quiet reflection.

Sometimes it looks like meaningful work.

Sometimes…

it looks like sitting beside your mom in a hospital room.

Or patiently training a puppy.

Or giving yourself permission to rest while your body heals.

I’ve come to believe that faithful leadership isn’t measured by how consistently we follow our plans.

It’s measured by how faithfully we respond to what God places in front of us today.

Ecclesiastes reminds us there is “a time for everything.”

Wisdom isn’t trying to make every season look the same.

Wisdom is recognizing the season we’re in.

So this week, instead of asking yourself,

“Am I getting everything done?”

Maybe ask:

“What is faithfulness asking of me today?”

The answer may look different than it did last week.

And that’s okay.

Lead well.

Live faithfully.

Stay steadfast.

Steadfastly,
Angie
