Halfway Through the Year: How Are You Really Doing?

by | Jun 2, 2026 | 0 comments

A few days ago I realized something.

We’re halfway through the year.

And honestly, this year hasn’t unfolded exactly as I expected.

Maybe you can relate.

At the beginning of the year, many of us set goals, made plans, chose a word for the year, and imagined what the months ahead might look like.

But life has a way of introducing circumstances we never saw coming.

For me, there was the fall that resulted in a broken wrist and foot, months of recovery, learning to slow down, and more recently navigating concerns surrounding a loved one’s health.

None of those things were on my vision board for 2026.

Yet here they are.

One thing I’ve learned after decades in leadership is this:

The strongest leaders don’t pretend everything is going according to plan.

They pause long enough to honestly assess reality.

Not to judge themselves.

Not to criticize themselves.

Simply to understand where they are.

As we enter June, I want to invite you to ask yourself:

  • How am I really doing?
  • What feels heavy right now?
  • What’s draining my energy?
  • What’s bringing me life?
  • What have I learned so far this year?
  • What is God trying to teach me in this season?

One thing I love about Scripture is that we see God repeatedly inviting people to pause and reflect before moving forward.

Before entering the Promised Land.

Before beginning a new assignment.

Before stepping into a new season.

Reflection often precedes redirection. Perhaps that’s what June is offering us.

A chance to pause before we push.

To listen before we strive.

To realign before we accelerate.

You don’t need all the answers today.

You don’t need a brand-new plan.

But you might need an honest conversation with yourself.

Because the second half of the year will be shaped by what you choose to carry forward from the first half.

And that begins with one simple question:

How are you really doing?

Steadfastly,
Angie
