Christmas week can be a swirl of emotions.
Joy and gratitude.
Grief and longing.
Busy schedules and quiet pockets of reflection.
Wherever this finds you today—surrounded by people, feeling a bit alone, or somewhere in between—I want to offer you something simple:
A prayer you can lean on this week as you think about your next chapter with God.
You might want to read this slowly with a warm drink nearby, or even out loud. You can make it your own as you go.
Step 1: Pause and remember Emmanuel
Take a deep breath.
Let your shoulders drop.
Notice your body and your surroundings.
Then remember:
“They will call Him Immanuel,” which means “God with us.” – Matthew 1:23
You don’t have to feel spiritual to be deeply loved.
God is with you in this moment—right where you are.
You can whisper:
“Jesus, thank You for being here with me, right now.”
Step 2: A Christmas week prayer for your heart
You can pray this as written or adapt it in your own words:
“Lord,
In the middle of this Christmas week—with all its noise, memories, and emotions—I bring my heart to You.
You see the things I’m grateful for and the things that still ache.
You know the parts of my story that feel unfinished, delayed, or confusing.
Thank You that I don’t have to pretend with You.
Jesus, thank You for coming as Emmanuel—God with us.
Not just in the perfect moments, but in the ordinary ones.
Not just when I feel strong, but when I feel weak or worn out.
As I move through these days, help me notice little reminders of
Your presence—a kind word, a quiet moment of peace, a simple joy.
Where I feel lonely, be my comfort.
Where I feel anxious, be my calm.
Where I feel tired, be my strength.
Where I feel unsure about the future, be my guide.
I place my next chapter in Your hands.
Lead me one small, faithful step at a time.
In Your name, Jesus, amen.”
Step 3: A blessing for your next chapter
Let this be a blessing spoken over you:
May you sense God’s nearness in unexpected places.
May you feel permission to rest, to breathe, and to simply be in His presence.
May you remember that you are not behind, not forgotten, and not disqualified.
May God gently reveal the dreams He’s still holding for you.
May He show you one small step to take in the months ahead.
And may you walk into your next chapter knowing you are loved, led, and never alone.
Step 4: A simple reflection for this week
If you’d like to take this deeper, you can journal or quietly think about:
- One thing you’re grateful for this season
- One thing that still feels tender or painful
- One area where you want to trust God more in your next chapter
Then you can pray:
“Lord, I give You my gratitude, my pain, and my trust. Meet me in all three.”
You don’t have to have your whole life mapped out.
You just need a willing heart and a God who already knows the way forward—
and you have both.
